The Paul "Jackie" Layne Soccer Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Paul "Jackie" Layne and his lifelong commitment to developing young footballers and expanding opportunities for youth in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Prankton Soccer Club believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and compete through the game of soccer, regardless of financial circumstances. This scholarship program is designed to provide financial assistance to dedicated youth players whose families demonstrate a genuine financial need, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation.

The scholarship supports players who exemplify the values of Prankton Soccer Club through their commitment, positive attitude, sportsmanship, and desire to develop both as footballers and as individuals.

Scholarship Purpose

The purpose of the Paul "Jackie" Layne Soccer Scholarship is to:

• Increase access to organized youth soccer.

• Remove financial barriers to participation.

• Encourage long-term player development.

• Reward commitment, discipline, and positive character.

• Honor the legacy and contributions of Paul "Jackie" Layne to the Prankton Soccer Club family.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be 17 years of age or younger at the time of registration.

• Be eligible to register with Prankton Soccer Club.

• Demonstrate financial need.

• Display a positive attitude, commitment, and willingness to learn.

• Agree to uphold the values and Code of Conduct of Prankton Soccer Club.

• Complete the scholarship application and provide any requested supporting documentation.

Scholarship awards are made without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

Scholarship Expectations

Scholarship recipients are expected to fully participate in the club and represent Prankton Soccer Club with integrity.

Recipients agree to:

• Commit to Prankton Soccer Club for the entire scholarship season.

• Attend practices, matches, tournaments, and team meetings consistently.

• Notify their coach in advance whenever they are unable to attend a club activity.

• Demonstrate respect toward teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, volunteers, and spectators.

• Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic throughout the season.

• Follow all Prankton Soccer Club policies and the Player Code of Conduct.

• Represent the club positively both on and off the field.

For returning scholarship applicants, previous attendance, effort, attitude, sportsmanship, and commitment may be considered when determining future scholarship eligibility.

Parent/Guardian Commitment

Parents and guardians play an important role in the success of the scholarship program.

Families receiving scholarship assistance are encouraged to support the club by volunteering throughout the season whenever possible. Volunteer opportunities may include:

• Assisting during home matches.

• Helping with tournaments or fundraising events.

• Supporting team activities.

• Assisting with club administration or community outreach initiatives.

Volunteer service is viewed as a meaningful way to give back to the club and help create opportunities for future scholarship recipients.

Scholarship Terms

• Scholarships are awarded for one season only.

• A new application must be submitted for each season.

• Scholarship awards are limited and are subject to available funding.

• Scholarships may cover all or a portion of the player's registration fees, depending on available resources and demonstrated financial need.

• Receiving a scholarship in one season does not guarantee assistance in future seasons.

Scholarship Revocation

Prankton Soccer Club reserves the right to revoke scholarship assistance if a recipient:

• Withdraws from the club without an approved reason.

• Fails to meet attendance expectations without reasonable justification.

• Repeatedly violates the Player Code of Conduct.

• Provides false or misleading information during the application process.

If a player voluntarily leaves the club before completing the scholarship season without prior approval from the club, the parent or guardian may be responsible for the remaining balance of the season's tuition.

Selection Process

Scholarship applications are reviewed confidentially by the Prankton Soccer Club Scholarship Committee or designated club leadership.

Awards are based on several factors, including:

• Demonstrated financial need.

• Player commitment and attendance.

• Coach recommendations.

• Positive attitude and character.

• Available scholarship funding.

All scholarship decisions made by the club are final.

Scholarship Acceptance

If selected, the parent or legal guardian must:

• Review the scholarship offer.

• Sign and return the Scholarship Acceptance Agreement.

• Complete all registration requirements.

• Agree to comply with all Prankton Soccer Club policies and scholarship expectations before financial assistance becomes active.

Failure to return the signed Scholarship Acceptance Agreement by the specified deadline may result in the scholarship being offered to another eligible applicant.
